Welcome to my website. I am Daniel Mitsui, a freelance illustrator and artisan. All of the drawings, paintings and sculptures displayed here were made by hand.
I specialize in detailed ink drawings on paper or animal skin parchment, although I work in other media as well. I am especially inspired by mediaeval iconography and illuminated manuscripts; I also enjoy biological illustration, bookplate design, heraldry and cartooning. I live in Chicago with my wife and our son.
