This is a calligraphic work of the first fourteen verses of the Gospel of St. John: In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God &c. This is the passage that is read at the third Mass on Christmas Day, and, traditionally, as the Last Gospel.
I drew a versal and a decorative border in the white vine style, including various birds and animals, a green man, and miniature pictures of St. John the Baptist and Jesus Christ.
