In the large capital letters are two scenes from the infancy of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Above, St. Joachim and St. Anne kiss at the Golden Gate. Below, the three-year-old Mary miraculously ascends the Temple steps at her Presentation. The text is a medieval sequence in honor of St. Anne, set in Benedict, a typeface that I designed myself.
The print is based on two of my ink drawings. It is about one and a half times larger than the originals.
