ST. BARBARA
PRINT by DANIEL MITSUI
St. Barbara was a virgin martyr of the third century. Imprisoned in a tower by her pagan father, her Christian faith was discovered when ordered workmen to build three windows in her prison in honor of the Holy Trinity. She was then tortured and beheaded.
She is invoked as a protector against lightning, and against sudden death from firearms or explosives.
The picture of St. Barbara is surrounded by a border built of interconnecting units of millefleur ornament taken from my various ink drawings.
The print is about one and a half times larger than the original artwork.
Dimensions: 8" × 11"
