ST. ISIDORE the FARMER
PRINT by DANIEL MITSUI

ST. ISIDORE the FARMER

St. Isidore is a patron of farmers and of the city of Madrid. He was a Mozarab Christian renowned for his devotion and his charity to the poor. On one famous occasion, he left his work to attend a morning Mass; when his fellow laborers complained, it was discovered that angels were ploughing the fields while he prayed.

The Latin prayer below this scene is a collect for the fruits of the earth. It translates to: Pour down Thy blessing, we beseech Thee, O Lord, upon Thy people and upon all the fruits of the earth, that when collected they may be mercifully distributed to the honor and glory of Thy holy name.

The print is about one and a half times larger than the original artwork.

Dimensions: 8" × 12"
